Abstract

REYNOSO-OROZCO, R et al. DIFLUOROMETHYLORNITHINE AND Bursera fagaroides AQUEOUS EXTRACT ON MURINE LYMPHOMA L5178Y MODEL IN BALB/C RATS: COMPARISON OF ITS EFFECT ON THE METABOLISM OF POLYAMINES. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2008, vol.30, n.2, pp.128-132. ISSN 0253-570X.

The aim of present work was to study Bursera fagaroides watery extract effect and Difluoromethylornithine (DFMO), applied individually or combined on healthy tissues and specifically on Polyamines (PAs) Putrecsine (Pu), Spermidine (Spd) and Spermine (Spm) metabolism in murine lymphoma L5178Y model. By means of ionic exchange chromatography, Pu levels in urine were determined as tumor evolution indicators, while renal ODC activity was quantified using radioimmunoassay. The results obtained suggest that the aqueous extract from Bursera fagaroides is a tumor stimulator, showing the opposite effect of the hidroalcoholic extract.

Keywords : Murine Lymphoma L5178Y; Polyamines; ODC activity; biomarkers; Bursera fagaroides.
