In this paper, an overview regarding the work of Intellectual Property applied at the National Center of Animal and Plant Health for 40 years is offered. Intellectual Property has played an important role in supporting the scientific research work and the technological innovation up to date, where it is opportunely inserted as a system of integrated processes in all the activities of the institutional environment.
