Abstract

LAVIELLE, J; PEDROSO, Miriam  and  SOLER, D.M. DYNAMICS OF WEIGHT IN BROILERS TREATED WITH A FORMULATION OF PARTICULATE LINEAR b1-3 GLUCAN. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2009, vol.31, n.2, pp.129-132. ISSN 0253-570X.

Treatment effect using a linear particulate b1-3 glucan on growth dynamics was evaluated in broilers. For this aim 2 trials were conducted, one (GA) in May and another GB in November. In both trials, 3 groups were conformed: The first one treated with a dose of 10mg/kg, the second one treated with 2 applications of 10mg/kg formulation at interval of a week between the applications and the control group. The treatment was applied at 10 days of age and weight was assessed weekly until 42 days. Treated groups shouwed an average weight significantly higher than the control, having differences in the significant difference of weight between the two treated groups. There was an increment in weight at 35 days of age for group A and at 21 days of age for group B . This difference is attributed to year season in which the test was carried out with a lower average temperature for GB. The results correspond with other researches that showed the positive effect of such treatment with this formulation on the health and the immune response of chickens. Although the influence of other factors such as temperature should be taken into account in the results.

Keywords : b glucan; broilers.
