Abstract

SANCHEZ CASTILLEJA, Yolanda M; RODRIGUEZ DIEGO, J.G  and  PEDROSO, Miriam. SEROLOGICAL CORRELATION OF Brucella abortus and Neospora caninum IN MEXICAN DAIRY COWS FROM HIDALGO STATE. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2010, vol.32, n.1, pp.57-59. ISSN 0253-570X.

In order to estimate the prevalence of Brucella abortus and Neospora caninum in 10 Holstein-Friesian cattle herds of from Hidalgo State, Mexico and to determine possible coinfection, sera from 50 dairy cows were randomly collected from each herd, for the determination of antibodies against both pathogens by agglutination card test and indirect ELISA, respectively. The results showed that the prevalence of the first agent was 39.6% and that of second one was 54.2% in tested cows. One hundred six (21.2%) of the brucellosis positive animals also had antibodies to N. caninum. There was an association in the presence of antibodies to both agents.

Keywords : Brucella; Neospora; dairy cows; reproductive disorders.
