Abstract

ALEMAN, Y et al. LARVICIDAL ACTIVITY OF EXTRACTS FROM Rhizophora mangle L. AGAINST GASTROINTESTINAL STRONGYLID OF SHEEP. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2011, vol.33, n.2, pp.111-115. ISSN 0253-570X.

In order to know the in vitro activity of three of the Rhizophora mangle L., on exogenous larval development of gastrointestinal strongles of sheep. It were used three extract: R. mangle aqueous extract directly from bark, aqueous and methanol extracts obtaining by lixiviation from residual material after the manufacturing of register drugs. Each extract was evaluated in three concentration level: 5 mg/mL, 25 mg/mL, 50 mg/mL, for evaluate its action on larvae of members of these order where Trichostrongylus spp was represented fundamentally. The results showed that the three extracts in concentrations of 50 mg/mL, significantly reduced (p<0.05) from the development of L3 on the fourth day of experiment (sixth day of larval life), with an average of 64.12% effectiveness. These results reveal that extracts of the R. mangle L show larvicide activity, on the sheep gastrointestinal strongles larvae.
