Resumen

REYNOSO-OROZCO, R; MARQUEZ-REYNOSO, M.I; NOA-LIMA, E  y  NOA-PEREZ, M. Metabolism particularities of polyamines and their possible application in veterinary medicine. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2012, vol.34, n.3, pp.144-150. ISSN 0253-570X.

Polyamines (PAs) putrescine (Pu), spermidine (Spd) and spermine (Spm) are ubiquitous organic cations with distributed loads interacting with various macromolecules and affecting many functions at cell level. They are essential for normal cell growth, the increased activity of ODC, its rate-limiting enzyme, beyond its minimal threshold which is not definite. They can induce transformation and tumor formation. Since humans have shown a relationship between PAs content and diseases, and given the great importance of PAs biosynthesis regulation by ODC, as well as in diverse biological processes of such amine participation, it is advisable to quantify these molecules in various fluids including plasma, urine and serum. This review emphasizes on the metabolic aspects and the physicochemical characteristics related to PAs, ODC, antizima (AZ) and AZ inhibitor (AZI), which are unique and represent an unusual strategy of cell physiology. Stimulating generation of results allowing a greater application for different disease diagnostics or degenerative processes, as well as a better exploitation of the benefits in multiple disciplines is recommended and possible application in veterinary science.

Palabras clave : polyamines; putrescine; spermidine; spermine; veterinary; chees; ractopamine.
