Abstract

BETANCOURT, A  and  NAVARRO, Verónica. Measurement uncertainty of sodium percarbonate in STABILAK. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2012, vol.34, n.3, pp.173-177. ISSN 0253-570X.

Measurement uncertainty of sodium percarbonate, component of the product Stabilak, was estimated. This product is used to preserve raw milk without refrigeration. Two procedures were used to estimate the combined uncertainty. The first one used the step by step procedure to estimate the uncertainty of each stage of the measurement process. With these data, the combined and expanded uncertainties were determined. The second method evaluated the uncertainty globally, and the data were obtained from the validation process of the analytical method. The overall uncertainty was higher (U = 1.58%) than that obtained by the step by step procedure (U = 1.21%). This latter identified the assay precision under intermediate conditions followed by the buret volume variation as the major variation sources of the result. The result expressed as percarbonate concentration and the associated expanded uncertainty provides more information to the user, who can make use of a range of likely values for making decisions on the analytical result.

Keywords : measurement uncertainty; sodium percarbonate; Stabilak.
