Abstract

MATOS MOYA, Vilmaris et al. Morphometric characterization of Oestrus ovis (Diptera: Oestridae) larvae from infested sheep in Cuba. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2012, vol.34, n.3, pp.184-187. ISSN 0253-570X.

In order to characterize the parasitic stages of Oestrus ovis morphometrically, 100 larvae from each stage (L1, L2, L3) were collected from necrotic infested hosts, placed in ethanol 70° and measured under a stereo microscope. The results were compared with those of other authors. The specimens were studied with a view to the description of morphological features that allow diagnostic criteria. Micrographs were taken from different regions of the larval stages.

Keywords : Oestrus ovis; morphometric; sheep; oestrosis.
