Resumen

OLIVARES-OROZCO, Javier Lorenzo  y  RODRIGUEZ-DIEGO, Jesús Gregorio. Morphology of Oesophagostomum columbianum (Strongylida: Chabertidae) by scanning electron microscopy. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.1, e04.  Epub 01-Abr-2019. ISSN 0253-570X.

In order to deepen in the morphology of the helminth Oesophagostomum columbianum, taking a special attention to the identification of structures that would allow an accurate diagnosis of the species; a parasite study was carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The following characteristics were evidenced: a underdeveloped oral capsule with a radiating crown of 22 sharp blades, followed by a cephalic vesicle; previous symmetrical outer papillae; developed lateral wings that extend through almost the entire length of the body, starting from the cervical groove; well-developed male coupling bag where the spokes that support it stand out; two equal spicules and genital cone; as well as vulva and anus of the female. These observations contribute to a better diagnosis of the species studied.

Palabras clave : electronic microscopic; morphology; Oesophagostomum columbianum.
