DOMINGUEZ-ODIO, Aníbal; ACOSTA-DUENAS, Pedro; OLIVA-LOPEZ, Magdalena  y  ROSALES-BOCH, Karina. Cuban vaccine against rabbit Pasteurella multocida: 52 years of inmunization. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.2  Epub 01-Ago-2021. ISSN 2224-4700.

Domestic rabbits are frequently affected by Pasteurella multocida, a multispecies and zoonotic pathogen, widely distributed throughout the world and causing great economic losses. Vaccination is the fastest and economic way to control it. However, the complexity associated with P. multocida virulence factors and the uncertainty in the use of foreign commercial vaccines for its control in Cuba encouraged the research and development of national vaccine candidates. In this sense, since 1968, it was possible to develop the inactivated and adjuvanted autogenic vaccine, from Thelma vaccine strain (Villa Clara, Cuba). Since then, its massive, official and mandatory application, without interruptions or changes in the vaccination scheme, has demonstrated its safety, immunogenicity and protective capacity after 52 years.

Palabras clave : Pasteurella multocida; rabbit; autogenic vaccine.
