Abstract
CASTELLON VALDES, María del Carmen; GONZALEZ VAZQUEZ, Rosa Elena and MORALES RODRIGUEZ, Alfredo. New host of Lachnopus hispidus (Gyllenhal) (Coleoptera: Curculuionidae) and for termite insects in Cuba. Ctro. Agr. [online]. 2020, vol.47, suppl.1, pp.68-70. Epub Dec 17, 2020. ISSN 2072-2001.
Since the period 2018-2019, there have been observed lesions in yam foliage and in cassava reserve roots, never described to Cuba before, so the objective of this work was to recognize the causal agents of the lesions in both crops and evaluate the distribution percentage of these lesions in cassava reserve roots. There were collected the insects present in cassava and in yam foliage for their later identification. In yam, Lachnopus hispidus (Gyllenhal) was reported for the first time, feeding on 30 % of the foliar area, and as for cassava cultivars 'CMC-40' and 'INIVIT 93 Y-4', the distribution percentage of roots with lesions on its roots was 5.3 and 6.3 % respectively, caused by termite insects.
