Abstract

ANAYA GUTIERREZ, Alberto. México más allá de las elecciones de 2012. Procesos y perspectivas en el contexto geopolítico actualMexico Beyond 2012 Elections. Processes and Perspectives in the Current Geopolitical Context. UH [online]. 2014, n.278, pp.20-36. ISSN 0253-9276.

Mexican presidential elections, without losing its controversial features, marked the comeback of PRI to the federal government, after 60 years of PAN's neo-liberal and pro-American policy. Thus, PRI government headed by President Enrique Peña Nieto started his administration with the promise to increase economic growth. To this end he implemented a reforms' package that express a mixture of socio-economic and ideological approaches that go form neo-liberal stands, to Keynesian ones; its most publicized example has been the energetic reform. All of this has generated divisions inside the Mexican society, and a critical response of leftist sectors, who consider that such reforms deepen the structural failures of the economic system, and generated, as well, a grater subjection of the country to North American capitals.

Keywords : Enrique Peña Nieto; neo-liberal reform; organized crime; drug trafficking; social security.
