Abstract

SOTO SOLER, Yanelexy. Mobutu Sese Seko and Cold War Rationality: Approaches to North American Stand During the Mobutu's Dictatorship's Last Three Years. UH [online]. 2014, n.278, pp.175-192. ISSN 0253-9276.

The present article analyzes the most important elements of the generalized crisis of Mobutu Sese Seko's regimen in Zaire. It also performs a brief statement of the international and regional context in which the main analyzed events take place. Besides, it discusses the reasons for which the necessary conditions were created for the foundation of the Democratic Forces Alliance for Congo's Liberation by Laurent-Desiré Kabila, and his leading of the forces that fought against Mobutu's dictatorship that brought about victory over his regime. Finally, the paper addresses the relations between the United States, and the countries of the region that got themselves involved in the revolt led by Kabila, as well as the United States government stand towards Mobutu's dictatorship.
