This article provide a historical approach to the political parties in Venezuela since its emergence in the nineteenth century to the early 90s of xx century. The reconciliation and conflict between the various ruling elites largely explains the partisan organization in both centuries. Conditioned by their limited representation and channeling of social interests, the traditional political parties in the 80s of xx century, they begin to lose its legitimacy, causing the need for a change in the Venezuelan political system.
