VARONA DOMINGUEZ, FREDDY. José Martí:: Knowledge, Education and Human Being. UH [online]. 2016, n.281, pp. 189-204. ISSN 0253-9276.

The present paper goes deep into some of José Martí's ideas about knowledge and education, aimed at showing its un-alienated essence and human improvement. Among the most important results, the attention provided to the fact of knowing the whole, the parts that compose it, and details which seem un-significant, as well as the links science-education-freedom. Likewise, the paper leads to the conclusion that for José Martí, knowledge is not only something of practical and cognoscitive helpfulness, but also un-alienated and of human improvement. Similarly, this work acknowledges that the validity of his ideas as to education is due to the links established between the educational work and the historic stage's demands, whose constant is the homeland's defense.

Palavras-chave : alienation; ennoblement; educational training; human improvement; homeland.
