Resumen

RAFULS PINEDA, Daniel. Democracy vs. Political Participation, Beyond the Rule of Law. UH [online]. 2017, n.283, pp.6-19. ISSN 0253-9276.

This paper reconsiders three major concepts in social sciences, and particularly political science, which have had the greatest impact on the current discussion, over the last fifty years, of democratic processes, with the aim of proving usual manipulations by Western political science to divide States into democracies and dictatorships. First, the concept of the Rule of Law and the so-called Rule of Law Index are examined, taking into consideration some of its factors measured. Second, the concept of democracy and the so-called Democracy Index, on which developing countries are judged, are critically reviewed. Finally, the concept of political parties and their close relationships with the upper classes represented by them are examined as well. It is shown that all these concepts are scarcely linked to political participation. This paper isn't unbiased at all. It tries to put them into context and prove that most of them have a "deadly sin": they are good for praising capitalist system.

Palabras clave : Democracy; Rule of Law; Political Participation; Political Parties.
