This paper examines the main issues dealt with by Juan Bosch in his book Pentagonism, A Substitute for Imperialism. It determines to what extent the phenomenon described by Bosch in 1968 occurs nowadays regardless of a quite different global situation. While the Dominican author's thoughts are taken as starting points, some other researches' points of view are also taken into account.
