Stokely Carmichael, a Black Power member, visited Cuba to attend The First Conference of the Latin American Organization of Solidarity (OLAS, according to its abbreviation in Spanish) in 1967. This politically and ideologically significant Conference was held after Washington broke economic, political, and diplomatic relations with Havana, and in the context of the Cold War. The visit had an effect on Latin America and the United States. Its implications for and repercussions on the African-American people's struggle, and anti-imperialist struggle in Latin American countries are analyzed.Keywords: Latin America, Anti-Colonialism, Anti-Imperialism, African American Civil Rights Movement, Black Power, Organization of Latin American Solidarity.
