This paper is aimed at examining how Panamanian media covered the participation of the United States and the Soviet Union in the World War II. For that, the newspapers Panamá América and La Estrella de Panamá were studied, employing Teun Van Dijk's concept of ideological square. From this study one concludes that the newspapers praised positive characteristics of and circumstances in the United States, and played down the negative ones. On the other hand, they played down positive characteristics of and circumstances in the Soviet Union, and underlined the negative ones.
