Abstract

SECCI, Maria Cristina  and  FERNANDEZ CAMPOS, Mariana. Mameli, Calvino y Roig: Transatlantic Dialogues on Botanical Taxonomy, Etymology and Translation. UH [online]. 2019, n.287, pp.201-226. ISSN 0253-9276.

Not much it’s known about the scientific dialogue established in the first half of the past XX century between Cuban and Italian researchers, which main representations on the botanical field were Juan Tomás Roig y Mesa, Eva Mameli and Mario Calvino. Texts, official and private testimonies, scientific articles and the remarkable Diccionario botánico de nombres vulgares cubanos help us to reveal the paths of that fruitful dialogue.

Keywords : Eva Mameli; Mario Calvino; Tomás Roig; Taxonomy; Etymology and Translation.
