Abstract

TELLERIA ESCOBAR, Loreta. Diplomacy of Intervention: Bolivia as a case study. UH [online]. 2019, n.288, pp.261-277.  Epub Sep 01, 2019. ISSN 0253-9276.

In the light of the characterization of what is called "Diplomacy of intervention", whose main exponents are the United States governments, this paper addresses the first two years of Evo Morales’ administration in Bolivia (2008-2010). During this period and due to the Wikileaks cables, it was possible to identify actions that were carried out by the then US Ambassador, Philip Goldberg, to destabilize and finish a government that, despite having been democratically elected, was considered a threat to the hegemonic interests of the empire.

Keywords : Evo Morales; diplomatic relations; hegemony; United States Embassy; Wikileaks.
