Abstract

MERINO, Luz. José Gómez Sicre and modern art in Cuba. UH [online]. 2019, n.288, pp.322-344.  Epub Sep 01, 2019. ISSN 0253-9276.

It is an act of justice in which the field of Art History studies looks to curatorship to approach even if briefly towards a leading figure that nowadays still has a very low profile in the historiography of Cuban art. He is José Gómez Sicre (1916-1991), who displayed a dynamic work, in which he joined the curator, the art critic, the dealer and the manager. His projection from the Museum of the Americas made him a more international profile figure and it is possibly the best known part of his work. With this approach we privilege his Cuban years.

Keywords : curatorship; art critic; promoter.
