Resumen
FERNANDEZ TABIO, Luis René. United States: Challenges in 2020’s Electoral Cycle. UH [online]. 2021, n.292 Epub 05-Jun-2021. ISSN 0253-9276.
The article explores the relationship between the economic and epidemiological challenges caused by COVID-19 and the aggravation of social, racial and political problems in the United States, reaching as far as national identity politics. This crisis is presented as a result of the new coronavirus, but its roots lie in the contradictions and imbalances inherent to capitalism, worsened by the mandate of Donald Trump's administration. The circumstances complexify the recovery scenario, due to the global nature of the pandemic and the interconnectedness of financial, productive and service problems, exacerbated by the administration's isolationist and unilateralist policies, rather than multilateralism and collaboration. The administration's response to these major challenges could be decisive in the November presidential election and in the U.S. position in the global balance of power in the coming years.
