Resumen

VALDES DIAZ, Luis Rubén. The Trump Era and the Challenges of Environmentalism in the U. S. UH [online]. 2021, n.292, 8.  Epub 05-Jun-2021. ISSN 0253-9276.

The beginning of Donald Trump's presidency immediately put to work part of the promises made during his campaign. One of them was the withdrawal of the United States from the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change. This decision aggravated the critical position of the United States in its incidence with greenhouse gas emissions and overexploitation of fossil fuel reserves, while further hindering the work of the U.S. environmental movement. In this article, an analysis is made of the actions of the Trump administration that oppose all the policies for confronting climate change that have been generated by different scientific and non-governmental institutions in the United States, especially the environmental movement. As a result, a list is made of the main challenges that this movement has to face and how they are intensified by this administration.

Palabras clave : environmental crisis; social movements; negationism; environmental policies.
