Entrepreneurship in Cuba, although not a new phenomenon, has received a significant boost from the State since the economic reform that took place in the country in 2008. At present, although the important role played by self-employed workers in helping to stimulate national economic growth is recognized, there are still limitations and inconsistencies that hinder the proper development of these forms of management. The present article aims at achieving an approach to the current conditions under which private enterprises operate in Cuba, in order to identify the main obstacles they face.
