Abstract

SUXIANG (EVA), Xu. The Participation of the Chinese in the Wars for Cuban Independence in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century. UH [online]. 2022, n.293, 7.  Epub Mar 03, 2022. ISSN 0253-9276.

This paper deals with the Chinese presence in Cuba since the first waves of immigration during the second half of the 19th century, as well as the intrinsic characteristics of the sociocultural impact of the insertion of the Chinese ethnos in the formation of Cuban nationality. The objective is to demonstrate that this representation manifested itself with great force in the wars for the independence of the Island. To develop the ideas, a wide variety of texts of historical character of recognized Cuban researchers, dedicated to these studies for many years, were taken into consideration, as well as articles elaborated by specialists of the Chair of Studies on the Presence and the Chinese Immigration in Cuba. The topic will be of great interest since it shows the transcendence of the Chinese community, whose mixture was completely lost to give way to the Chinese-Cuban. In that truth lies the essence of this proposal.

Keywords : Asia; history; migration.
