Abstract

AVILA VARGAS, Niuva; ALMEYDA VAZQUEZ, Annia  and  GARCIA CONTINO, Solanch. The Family Costs of Educational Accompaniment in Times of COVID-19. Reflections from the Cuban Context. UH [online]. 2022, n.293, 10.  Epub Mar 03, 2022. ISSN 0253-9276.

The COVID-19 context has imposed new dynamics on life in most parts of the world. Among the areas that have had the greatest impact is the private sphere, with various changes and transformations. Such is the case of the family and the educational processes developed within it. This new reality has required new tasks to be fulfilled, often in conditions that are not the most favorable. The State has supported the continuity of education, but the family space and its new reality have not received the same attention. Home education demands time, cognitive and pedagogical skills, infrastructure, a pleasant environment for study and especially the involvement of several family members. Reality indicates that this task falls mainly on mothers. This paper reflects on the family costs that emanate from formal home education.
