The aim of this paper is to identify realizations of subjectivity in scientific discourse and to relate them to pragmatic goals. We conducted textual analysis, semantic discourse analysis, and dimensional analysis of meaning on 14 research papers, to find realizations of eight types of subjectivity, and to establish the pragmatic goals they served. Results show that, in scientific discourse, subjective realized by means of language serves pragmatic goals constitutive of scientific practice.
