As part of an ongoing research focus on the study of subjectivity in drama, this article aims to examine the authorial ethos configuration in Una obra para mí (2021), auto-fictional piece by Sebastián Suñé. After reviewing what scholars says about the genre, the paper proves that the text is not only an auto-fictional play, but also one that thematizes its nature by presenting the playwright as a character different from the author. However, this attempt to protect the writer's public image does nothing more than expose him as someone busy managing how he is perceived. Further, the insistence on showing him as a skilled and dedicated playwright manifests an ethos concerned about his legitimacy.
