The reorganization of Cuban agriculture is based on efficiency, innovation and knowledge. In this context, the relations between the productive bases, professional organizations and knowledge institutions renew their importance. This paper aims to describe the collaborative link between the Rural Studies Team of the University of Havana and the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians-Havana for the application of sociological research in grassroots productive units. The case studies identified aspects to improve productive management: participation in decision-making, the payment/benefit system, the availability of means, inputs and infrastructure, and the final realization of productions. The workers put forward their proposals and explained the need to resolve them together with other agricultural and/or local government bodies. It can be concluded that the collaboration has favored the fulfillment of the social responsibility of the parties involved. The direct producers have seen their opinions and proposals for effective and efficient production practices collected.
