TERRY ARAUJO, Yansa de la Caridad e BOMBINO COMPANIONI, Yenisei. State of art of studies on rural youth in Cuba (2011-2021). UH [online]. 2023, n.298 Epub 01-Dez-2023. ISSN 0253-9276.
As key agents in food production and the dynamization of the labor force, rural youth constitute one of the fundamental links in the elaboration of a long-term development project and policy in Cuba. Rural studies developed in the last decade have revealed a continuous process of de-peasantization of young people, the sustained loss of the youth labor force in the agricultural sector and the consequent need to rejuvenate it. In addition to the need to link them to these tasks, beyond technological barriers and economic dissatisfactions, the studies show the limited possibilities of rural youth to empower themselves and insert themselves organically in their territories, being intercepted by a set of exclusion axes in a system of gerontocratic and androcentric relations.
