The development of the national quality infrastructure supports the deployment of public policies in all strategic sectors, as well as compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which are deployed in Cuba through the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030. Therefore, the objective of this work is to provide an overview of the development in Cuba of the elements that make up the national quality infrastructure: standardization, metrology, quality and accreditation. With a historical-logical approach, the development of these activities is addressed from the first attempts deployed in the 19th century to the projections that today are managed by the National Standardization Office with all the actors involved, who work to promote a national infrastructure of quality, which contributes to raising technological discipline, productivity, competitiveness, culture and the quality of life of the population, as well as strengthening trade, services and innovation.
