TEJUCA MARTINEZ, Mayra; GUTIERREZ FERNANDEZ, Onil  y  GARCIA OJALVO, Irina. The Access to the Cuban Higher Education in the Course 2013-2014:: a Look to the Territorial Social Composition. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2015, vol.34, n.3, pp.42-61. ISSN 0257-4314.

The present work analyzes the social composition of the students that participated in the enrollment process of Cuban higher education in the term 2013-2014. The study based itself on the following indicators: color of the skin, sex and parents' academic degree and jobs. The national results showed that white, black, and half-caste students accessed to higher education in a superior, similar, and inferior rate respectively, which represents the Cuban population in between 18 and 24 years old. However, these results did not turn out in all provinces in the country. Women accessed higher education in a superior percentage than men, and over its census ratio in all provinces. It was possible to confirm the presence of the children of university professionals or leaders among students that accessed, which indicates to a self-reproduction process of Cuban professionals.

Palabras clave : women´s access; cultural capital; economic capital; equity; gender´s equality; race.
