Resumen

ACOSTA DAMAS, Maribel; COSTALES PEREZ, Zenaida  y  ROSALES VICENTE, Beatriz. Competence-based Education and Training in Journalism Degree. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2016, vol.35, n.1, pp.75-84. ISSN 0257-4314.

This work presents the gradual application of the approach to competence-based education and training to the optional curriculum of journalism degree with the aim of fostering an optimal professional performance in view of current demands of working environments. For this, operational definitions in dealing with cross-curricular competencies were analyzed, by starting from notions of transferability and change management, which are inherent in management and competence-based training and education systems globally. Experiences gained by applying the approach to journalism degree in the Faculty of Social Communication of the University of Havana allow to demonstrate that the optional curriculum can bridge the gap between rapidly changing working environments and updates to initial education programs.

Palabras clave : optional curriculum; working environments; change management; transferability.
