Learning evaluation is an action field that has been given international priority, due to the many critics to which it has been subjected to for having been customarily submitted to traditional concepts that jeopardize its most legitimate functions, and, therefore, its desired formative effect. The present work introduces some results as from the research carried out in Universidad Deportiva del Sur de Venezuela, aimed at diagnosing the learning evaluation practiced by professors, in which - through participative observation and interviews -several manifestations of traditional patterns were detected. The identification of the existing difficulties in the evaluation process that was performed, made possible, later on, to correct the evaluative practices and improve their pertinence, as well as increasing professors' teaching performance, which helped to improve the work of the rest of the university teaching-learning process's components.
