This paper is a result of an investigation conducted at the University of Granma, Cuba, and contributes to improving skill acquisition and development in teaching-learning process in the subject Statistics, by applying a didactic strategy for statistical problem-solving associated with social practice. Linking subject content to issues associated with the social sphere promotes students' creativity and motivation, which is necessary for future professionals to be trained
