In this paper, the results of a study of family orientation offered by educational institutions in order to keep teenagers away from drug abuse are presented, based on the work performed by Student Counseling Services. The study was aimed at identifying the role played by Student Counseling Services as tools used by educational institutions in order to keep teenagers away from drug abuse. A literature review was conducted, and the methods of document analysis, and theoretical systematization were used. Theories elaborated by several writers are presented, who suggest some family orientation actions to enhance educational institutions’ capability to identify risk and protective factors, and prevent drug abuse which has become a problem of major importance to these institutions.
