Many times, you often hear terms related to the educational field and its meaning is not always known. Examples of these are many such as: quality education, high education, quality standards and academic excellence, just to mention some examples. The truth is that today the demands are increasingly promoted by their own competitiveness in the workplace, professional, educational and social to which are immersed individuals who cohabit in a world increasingly globalized and filled with consumerism. Not all countries have an education that can reach the highest standards and reach academic excellence, or to have the laws, regulations, decrees and provisions that favor the process to reach it. The main objective of this work is to illustrate the elements that comprise academic excellence, in addition to being able to establish the different challenges that the university must face.
