The relationship between teaching and practical training, i.e., the link between theory and practice, occurs since the very first academic years through the combination of teaching, real-life and research activities. This paper shows the results of a strategy adopted by the teaching staff in the Knowledge Management Department Lázaro Quintana Tápanes in order to promote scientific research by Industrial Engineering majors at the University of Matanzas, with these adopting a Knowledge Management approach. In this way, real-life and research activities could be combined. This was also a contribution to university management.
