In this work, an approach is made to the self-regulation of learning that is used, from a pedagogical approach, by a Colombian institution of higher education with first semester students of social work. The pedagogical approach, known as praxeology, consists of promoting the dimensions of the human being from the practice and its reflection in the environment. This article, corresponding to a master's research, exposes elements of educational practices of the praxeological pedagogical approach and responds to the need to form autonomous students in their learning process, with the capacity to «learn how to learn». In this process, the educational system must assume a leading role.
