The article focuses on one of the most relevant problems in the training of future professionals in education and, specifically, in Early Childhood Education: their methodological-research preparation. The objective is to analyze the structure of the curricular design of this career and, consequently, of its graduate profile. The subject Research Methodology is analyzed in order to assess the causes that affect the improvement of the initial level educator's methodological training. It is considered to apply the analytical-synthetic method to this subject, prescribed in all the curricular mesh of the study plan, under the criterion of the instrumental content for each semester. Likewise, the disjunctions caused by the non-observance of certain pedagogical, didactic and psychological principles are made explicit, due to the underlying shortcomings regarding the validity of the research skills that the subject supposedly proposes, the learning outcomes and their evaluation.
