Abstract

MUCHA-HOSPINAL, Luis Florencio; CHAMORRO MEJIA, Rafael; OSEDA LAZO, Máximo Edgar  and  PECHO RAFAEL, Melida Herlinda. Metacognitive Strategies for Improving Statistical Learning in University Students. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2021, vol.40, n.3, e3.  Epub July 01, 2021. ISSN 0257-4314.

The objective of the study was to demonstrate that metacognitive strategies improve the learning of statistics in university students. The applied method was the pre-experimental design with a single group, longitudinal cut. The sample consisted of 40 students from the IV cycle of the Professional School of Civil Engineering. The type of sampling was non-probabilistic and technique intentional. Students were assessed through pre and posttest. The results at the end of the experiment were: µ 1 = 9.38 and µ 2 = 12.88, observing a slight difference in the means, the test of the hypothesis of difference of means shows the significance and was the variable t = -9.142 with a level of significance of p < 0.01. It is concluded that with the application of metacognitive strategies, through specific capacities, they improve the learning of statistics.
