SANTIVIAGO, Carina; ERAZO SALCEDO, Gonzalo; DE LEON, Fabiana  and  TENEZACA, Rocío. Policies Supporting the Permanence of University Students. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2021, vol.40, n.3, e16.  Epub July 01, 2021. ISSN 0257-4314.

In the context of education politics of higher education, Latin American countries begin to define strategies to promote access and stimulate the permanence of their students. This article reflects the results of joint research between the National University of Chimborazo of Ecuador (Unach) and the University of the Republic of Uruguay (UdelaR) on institutional support that students, who approved the first year, identify for their permanence. The results of the study are exposed and reflection is made on the challenges that the Universities face in order to promote educational continuity. A mixed methodological strategy was used. The data collection was done through the self-application of a questionnaire. The sample consisted of 837 students. As a main result, it appears that the institutional supports mostly perceived by the students are those that integrate the curricular mesh and are linked to practices that have as objective the social and academic involvement.
