The objective of this work is to develop a diagnostic process to determine the current state regarding literary training from the context of distance education of people deprived of liberty (PPL hereinafter) at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil. . The students who are part of the project aspire to reintegrate socially, study a university degree, and particularly improve reading comprehension and, correspondingly, literary training. The research was carried out through surveys and interviews with students, recommendations from teachers and managers that are related to the training process, given the possibility of actively joining the project. Results are expressed on the recognition of PPLs with potential to develop the training process, the level of presence as a tool for university training of PPLs and the recognition of distance education as a fundamental tool for university training.
