Resumen

HERNANDEZ CORDOVA, Naivy  y  SOTO CARRENO, Francisco. Sowing date influence on growth and yield of cereals cultivated in tropical conditions. Part II. Sorghum crop (Sorghum bicolor I. Moench var. Isiap Dorado). cultrop [online]. 2012, vol.33, n.2, pp.50-54. ISSN 0258-5936.

In order to evaluate the growth performance and its relationship with the performance of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench var. ISIAP Dorado), this work was developed at the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences, were studied three planting dates: November/2008, June/2009 and July/2009, using a density of 270 000 plants.ha-1. Destructive samples were taken every 15 days of emerged plants to 120 days evaluating total dry mass of aerial parts, the Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Leaf Area Duration (LAD), adjusting the data to a function exponential polynomial of second degree, «x» was the days after the emergency and «y» the variable in question; was also determined grain yield dry; from the regression equations were calculated Absolute Growth Rate (AGR) of dry biomass and maximum values of the variables, we also calculated the ratio of total dry mass and yield (harvest index). It shows the relationship between mean air temperature and duration of the phases from emergence to flowering and between the latter and the physiological maturity and the influence of the duration of the accumulation of dry mass and length Leaf Area on performance, found that higher biomass accumulation reached a higher yield

Palabras clave : growth; development; yield; sorghum.
