Resumen

PEREZ PELEA, Leneidy et al. Heritability in broad sense estimation to agricultural importance characters evaluated in a guava (Psidium guajava L.) population. cultrop [online]. 2013, vol.34, n.1, pp.66-73. ISSN 0258-5936.

Guava (Psidium guajava L.) is one of the most valuables tropical and subtropical fruit tree, because it is a natural source of vitamins and mineral salts. The inheritance studies of quantitative characters in this specie are insufficient worldwide and in our country they haven’t been approached up to date. A cross between cultivars ‘Enana Roja Cubana’ and ‘N6’ was made at the Unidad Científico Tecnológica de Base de Alquízar, belonging to the Institute of Researches on Tropical Fruit Culture, a total of 96 descendants were obtained and they were planted according to a Complete Random Design. Fourteen quantitative characters from fruits were evaluated during a period of four years. Factorials Analyses of Variance (Model II) were made with the data sets with the aim of estimating the variance components and the heritability in broad sense. These analyses were made using the SPSS program. The characters: wide and length of fruit, length/wide fruit ratio, diameter of calyx cavity, diameter of calyx cavity /fruit ratio, number, total mass and average mass of seeds per fruit showed medium values of heritability, while the others characters showed low heritabilities. Twelve variables showed a genotype-environment interaction variance that was statistically significant, which facilitates the application of a better refined model for the genotype-environment interaction analysis.

Palabras clave : heritability; genotype environment interaction; guava; genetic variability.
