The study was carried out in two Credit and Service Cooperatives (CCS) "Abel Santamaría Cuadrado" and "Enrique Troncoso Castro", of the south area of the Popular Council in Paso Real de San Diego, located in Los Palacios municipality and in Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) "Las Clavellinas" of Mantua municipality, in Pinar del Río province, with the objective to know some aspects about rice seed management for farm producers of both localities during the years 2008 and 2009. The participatory investigation developed in the farm producers has allowed to know the selection approaches and their preferences and to check this approach because these change in function of each town conditions. The results allow corroborating that the fairs constitute an effective way to increase the diversity and it was an opportunity so that the producers have a quicker and more efficient access to rice varieties, besides the possibility that they toast for the capacitation of the same ones.
