Viral sequences of the cerebrospinal fluid were amplified by using olygonucleotides that are homologous to region 5´of the Enteroviruses. The results showed a great variability in the amplified sequences, suggesting the presence of enteroviral quasi-species with altered biological properties in the stressed individuals that may play an important role in the neurological damage.
