A review is made on the metabolism of vitamin B₁₂, its chemical structure, dietetic spurces and requirements in the different age groups, as well as on its absorption and distribution in the body. The metabolic function of cobalamins, their role in the etiology of megaloblastic anemias, the causes of the deficiency of this vitamin and its treatment are also explained in this paper
