SANCHEZ SEGURA, Miriam et al. Immunophenotyping in the diagnosis of lympho- and myeloproliferative syndromes . Rev Cubana Hematol Inmunol Hemoter [online]. 2000, vol.16, n.3, pp. 198-205. ISSN 1561-2996.
The immunophenotyping of cells from bone marrow and from peripheral blood was carried out in 217 patients with lympho- and myeloproliferative syndromes by the immunocytochemical ultramicromethod (ICCUM). Of the total of studied cases, 143 (62.44%) were acute leukemias (AL): 70 acute lymphoid leukemias (ALL) and 38 acute myeloid leukemias (AML). There were not specific antigens of lineage in l5 patients, who were classified as undifferentiated acute leukemias. Among the ALL, 75.71% were of phenotype B, whereas the common one was the most frequent. In 17 patients (11.88%) the blasts expressed T-cell antigens. 66 patients (30.41%) presented chronic lymphoproliferative syndromes (CLPS) and, of them, 71.21% were of phenotype B. The frequency of acute and chronic lympho- and myeloproliferative syndromes found in our patients behaved according to what has been described by other authors
